Kelly Jungers

Kelly was raised on a family farm outside Hospers (Iowa) where Willow Creek meandered through the back forty acres.

Some early vocal training as well as a few years playing saxophone inspired Kelly to continue perfroming in musicals and vocal ensembles throughout high school and college.

It was in Tucson where a love for the Afro-Brasilian rhythms of capoeira inspired Kelly to delve into the world of traditional West African percussion. Beginning in 2005 he's studied with Martin Klabunde in The Dambe Project, and under such wonderful musicians as Mamady Keita and Profesor Macumbira Bosco.

Kelly is thrilled to be one of the members of Planet Djembe, styling the infectious grooves for those from Tucson and beyond.
