Scott Futrell
Scott Futrell was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., earned a degree in Electronics Technology then moved to San Diego, CA in 1986. He specialized first in radio frequency communications, then in attending as many "Grateful Dead" shows as possible.
Since 1994 he has studied with teachers of West African percussion such as Jason Hann (USA), Lamine "Dibo" Camara (Guinea), Nana Yaw Aseido (USA), Babacar M'Bengue (Senegal), Moussa Traore (Mali), Adama Diop (Senegal), and Adama Dembele (Ivory Coast).
In addition to lecture demonstration/performances at San Diego State University, University of California San Diego, and University of California Irvine, he performed with San Diego bands "Tribe of Judah" (reggae), "Rendering Truck", "Grove", and "TapWater" (rock).
In 2005 he moved to Tucson, AZ, and has performed with "Planet
Djembe" (african percussion ensemble) and "Key Ingredients of African
Soul" (afro/reggae).
